Teacher Communication Note
Assessment Note: This is our newest type of note that automatically generates after you administer a digital assessment from the Assessment tab in a student's caseload profile. This note is especially helpful for writing present levels as it is broken down into the student's strengths, emerging skills, and needs based on their performance on the assessment you administered. You can find Assessment Notes in a student's Caseload profile under the Notes tab (or from the main Notes tab at the top).
Data Entry: This is the most commonly used type of note because it is like a daily "SOAP" note. The Data Entry Note provides a way to quickly document the data you have collected on your student's goals while in a session. To take a Data Entry note, click into a session in the Planner and take your data for each student. Click "Load Template" to generate a note! Click here for more information about Data Entry notes.
General Note: A General Note can be used for a variety of purposes, but it is not related to a specific student. You can create a General Note from the Notes tab. Simply click the "Add Note" button at the top. Use a General Note for reminders or anything generic that does not need to be associated with a student's profile.
Parent/Guardian Communication: This note type is handy for keeping track of parent/guardian correspondence. You can indicate how the communication was made (phone, text, email), what the outcome was, a summary of the conversation, etc. You will need to assign a specific student to this note before saving it.
Progress Note: Progress Notes can help you to streamline the quarterly progress reporting process! If you've been collecting data in the Planner over a period of time, you'll be able to generate Progress Notes by following the steps in this article. Once created, these will appear under a student's Caseload profile and under the Notes tab.
Session Note: In the Planner under Session Details, you'll see a Session Note box that you can use for reminders about that specific session and quick blurbs about that day. Please be aware that these notes will NOT appear in the next session and are NOT associated with specific students. You can pull up Session Notes from the Notes tab.
Smart Deck: These notes will be created automatically after taking data using one of our interactive Smart Decks! Here's an article that will walk you through how to use these. You can pull up Session Notes from the Notes tab.
Student Note: Student Notes are great for documenting information that you want to remember for the student. This note could contain information that doesn’t necessarily connect to the student’s goals, such as drafts for documentation, qualitative information, observation notes, comments made by the student, etc. You will need to assign a specific student to this note before saving.
Teacher Communication: This is a great note type to track times when you spoke with or emailed teachers. This could be used to document information received from teachers regarding a student’s present levels, communication concerns, communication strengths, or anything else that could be relevant to the student. You will need to assign a specific student to this note before saving.
Helpful Tip: You can find out how to batch-print all of these note types in this article!
